As the moon begins a new cycle, so too can we. Join us on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 7:00 PM at First Church Unitarian Universalist in Leominster for a peaceful and welcoming New Moon Gathering. This event is a chance to pause, reflect, and reconnect—with ourselves, with nature, and with each other.

The new moon is a time of renewal—a quiet invitation to set intentions, plant seeds of hope, and imagine what we’d like to grow in the weeks ahead. It’s not about having all the answers. It’s about taking a breath, stepping into stillness, and opening ourselves to possibility.

Whether you're deeply spiritual, just beginning to explore earth-centered practices, or simply looking for a moment of calm in your week, you'll be warmly welcomed. Our time together will include:
  • A brief reflection on the energy of the new moon
  • Space for journaling or quiet contemplation
  • Simple rituals to help release the old and invite in the new
  • A sense of community and shared intention

There’s no cost to attend, and no expectations—just an open heart and the willingness to be present.

We gather at First Church UU, located at 15 West Street in Leominster. Come as you are, and leave feeling grounded, renewed, and gently inspired for the month ahead.

We hope you’ll join us for this evening of reflection, intention, and quiet connection. Blessed be.

Join us for our Ostara Gathering and Potluck on March 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM!

Ostara is a Pagan festival celebrated on the Spring Equinox, marking the balance of day and night and the return of longer, warmer days. It is named after the Germanic goddess Eostre and is associated with themes of renewal, fertility, and new beginnings. Many modern Pagans celebrate Ostara with rituals, planting seeds, decorating eggs, and honoring the changing of the seasons.

We will have a short service followed by an extended Fellowship (with a Potluck!) time.

Join us! All are welcome!

Join Us for a Full Moon Ritual!

🌕✨ Date: Thursday, February 13, 2025
🌕✨ Time: 7:00 PM
🌕✨ Location: First Church UU, 15 West Street, Leominster, MA
The Full Moon is a time of illumination, release, and renewal. It invites us to reflect on the past, embrace gratitude, and make space for new beginnings. On February 13th, under the glow of the Full Moon, join us for a sacred ritual to honor this transformative lunar energy.

What Happens During the Ritual?
This Full Moon ritual is an opportunity to:
🌕 Let Go of What No Longer Serves You
Release old habits, fears, or negativity that may be holding you back. Together, we’ll cleanse our energy and create space for growth.
🌕 Celebrate Your Journey
Reflect on the successes, lessons, and moments of gratitude from this moon cycle. Honor your progress and embrace the energy of completion.
🌕 Set Intentions for the Future
Harness the potent energy of the Full Moon to focus on your goals, dreams, and aspirations for the next lunar phase.
🌕 Connect in Sacred Community
Share in the collective energy of others, strengthen spiritual bonds, and create a powerful sense of unity as we work toward renewal.

What to Bring
To help you make the most of this experience, we recommend bringing:
  • A Journal and Pen: For reflection and intention-setting exercises.
  • Comfortable Items: A shawl, blanket, or cushion to help you relax.
  • Altar Items: If you’d like, bring small tokens such as crystals, candles, or photos to place on the altar during the ritual.
We’ll provide cleansing tools, candles, and everything else you’ll need for the evening.

Why Celebrate the Full Moon?
The Full Moon is a powerful time for releasing and recharging. Its radiant energy offers us clarity to see what no longer aligns with our goals and what deserves celebration. By connecting with the moon’s cycles, we align ourselves with the rhythms of nature, fostering balance, self-awareness, and a deeper sense of purpose.

Event Details
📍 Where: First Church UU, 15 West Street, Leominster, MA
🕖 When: 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 13, 2025

This ritual is open to everyone, whether you’re experienced in spiritual practices or simply curious about celebrating the Full Moon. Come as you are, and join us in this sacred circle. Together, we’ll embrace the magic of the moon and leave feeling renewed, empowered, and inspired.

Unitarian Universalists and Social Justice: Living OUR Values Every Day

11/28/2024

Unitarian Universalists (UUs) are passionate about making the world a better, fairer place. Their commitment to social justice isn’t just a belief—it’s a way of life. Guided by principles like justice, equity, and compassion, UUs work tirelessly to create a world where everyone can thrive. But what does that look like in action? Let’s dive in.

What Drives UU Social Justice Work?

At the core of UU values are a few guiding principles that fuel our efforts:
  1. Every Person Matters: UUs believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every person, which means standing up against discrimination and oppression.
  2. Fairness and Kindness: Justice, equity, and compassion are more than ideals—they’re daily practices.
  3. We’re All Connected: The belief in the interconnected web of life inspires UUs to protect the planet and care for one another.
  4. The Power of Democracy: UUs value everyone’s voice and work to create systems where participation matters.
These principles don’t just sit on a shelf—they’re active, living commitments that drive UUs to make meaningful change.

The Causes UUs Care About

If there’s a social issue that needs addressing, chances are UUs are involved. Here are just a few of the areas where we focus our energy:
  • Racial Justice: From supporting movements like Black Lives Matter to hosting conversations about systemic racism, UUs are deeply involved in dismantling inequality.
  • LGBTQ+ Rights: UUs have long been allies, advocating for marriage equality, transgender rights, and inclusive policies.
  • Environmental Justice: Protecting the planet isn’t optional—it’s a responsibility. UUs are at the forefront of sustainability efforts and climate action.
  • Economic Justice: Whether it’s organizing food drives or advocating for living wages, UUs care deeply about addressing poverty and inequality.
  • Immigrant and Refugee Rights: Providing sanctuary and pushing for compassionate immigration policies are just some of the ways UUs support vulnerable populations.
  • Reproductive Justice: UUs stand firmly for the right to make decisions about one’s own body, advocating for access to reproductive healthcare.
  • Peace and Nonviolence: UUs believe in resolving conflicts peacefully and seek alternatives to violence in all its forms.

How UUs Take Action

UUs don’t just talk the talk—we walk the walk. Their social justice work happens on many levels:
  • Global Impact: The UU Service Committee (UUSC) works internationally to support human rights and fight for justice, focusing on issues like refugee support and access to clean water.
  • Local Efforts: Many UU congregations organize community programs like food pantries, educational workshops, and partnerships with local organizations. (We have a Community Meal and Food Pantry here in Leominster.)
  • National Advocacy: Campaigns like Standing on the Side of Love amplify UU voices in the fight for inclusion and equality.
And it’s not just about organized programs—individual UUs live their values every day, finding small but impactful ways to contribute.

Social Justice in Worship and Beyond

Social justice isn’t just an “extra” for UUs—it’s woven into the fabric of our worship, education, and community life. Many UU services focus on social issues, offering both inspiration and practical tools for action. Educational programs dive deeper, helping people learn how to turn their values into meaningful change.

A Legacy of Justice

UUs have been changemakers for centuries. Think of abolitionists like Frances Ellen Watkins Harper or suffragists like Susan B. Anthony. Their work continues today in movements for racial justice, LGBTQ+ rights, and environmental sustainability. The thread that ties it all together? A commitment to equity and compassion.

Making the World a Better Place, Together

Unitarian Universalists believe that a better world is possible—and we’re ready to help create it. Whether through local community projects, global advocacy, or personal acts of kindness, UUs work to live our values every day.

If you’re inspired by the idea of combining compassion with action, consider joining us! Together, we can build a more just, compassionate, and connected world.

Hello Friends,

It's been a hard week. I know many of you, like myself have been grappling with a wide range of emotions. We are all holding so much right now.
This Sunday's service is important for many reasons. First, we need to reconnect with each other, and lean into community. Second, we need to handle the Church's business at our Biannual Meeting following service. While we don't know exactly what lies ahead, we know we must meet it together, and keep doing the next right thing.

Service is at 10:00am, with the Biannual meeting begins at 11:30 We will leave the usual church zoom link open for the meeting.
