Our Pollinator Garden at First Church UU in Leominster, MA

At First Church UU in Leominster, MA, we are thrilled to share the story of our pollinator garden, a vibrant and meaningful addition to our community. Initiated in 2023 by our dedicated Lay Minister, Stephanie Trudel, this garden is a testament to our commitment to the environment and our 7th principle, which calls for respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

The project began with the support of the Rotary Club, who generously donated the plants, and The Preville Group, led by Nick Preville, who helped grade the area and clear the overgrown remnants of our former meditative labyrinth. This collaborative effort transformed an unused space into a thriving habitat for pollinators, right in the heart of downtown Leominster.

What is a Pollinator Garden?

A pollinator garden is specifically designed to attract and support pollinators such as bees, butterflies, birds, and other beneficial insects. These gardens are filled with a variety of native plants that provide nectar, pollen, and habitat for these essential creatures. A Tribute to Members Who Have Passed On

In addition to supporting pollinators, our garden will feature tiny, subtle memorials for members of our congregation who have passed away. These memorials will be thoughtfully integrated into the landscape, honoring the memory of our loved ones in a space dedicated to life and renewal.

We Will Be Dedicating Our Pollinator Garden Soon

Later this year, we will dedicate the garden and install a beautiful bench made from reclaimed wood by Stephanie's father-in-law. This bench will provide a peaceful spot for reflection and enjoyment of the garden's beauty.
