If this is your first time here or if you have been here since the beginning, we welcome you and we are truly glad you have come here today! Whoever you are, wherever you are on your spiritual journey, we welcome you and are glad and grateful you have come.
what to expect when you visit
We want your visit to be pleasant and stress-free! Here are a few things to expect when you visit:
- Parking: We have a parking lot on the side of the church. There are some spots marked for handicapped parking, but other than that, feel free to park where you like.
- Entrances: We have two entrances that open to the parking lot. One is the Main entrance and one has a ramp for easier access. (The entrance facing the street is not currently being used.)
- The Sanctuary: If you go in the Main Entrance, you'll see some stars as you go inside. If you go up the stairs, you'll go to the Sanctuary. Going down the stairs will lead to the kitchen and restrooms.
- Stay Connected with Us: You'll have the opportunity to request our newsletter, which keeps you informed about upcoming events, sermon topics, and more.
- Learn More About Us: We have a table with plenty of information about us and resources for you to take home (if you'd like).
- Coffee Hour: After each service, we have a Coffee Hour. We have plenty of coffee, tea, juice, and snacks. It's a low-key way to get to know us. It's super casual and we chit chat about all kinds of things (hobbies, movies, TV, books, and whatever else floats your boat). You can ask questions about the church or just talk about whatever interests you. No pressure! (Did I mention snacks?)
what to expect during the service
After a call to worship, we will greet one another. We'll have a short Story for All Ages, then a Reading and our Sermon.
We also have a time for sharing Joys and Concerns, which is a uniquely UU tradition. We know that sharing our Joys multiply them, while sharing our concerns can lighten our burden.
After our service, we have a Coffee Hour, which is just a time for coffee (or tea), refreshments, and conversion. It's very low-key and we talk about all kinds of topics.

what to expect if you have kids
At FCUUL we have a "no-hush" culture. Children (and grown-ups, too) sometimes make noise. We view the sounds of children in the Sanctuary to be a joyful noise, therefore, we don't hush our children. Instead we encourage their participation in the service and our community.
However, we understand that everyone has different levels of comfort. If you wish, your children are welcome to go downstairs with Miss Rachel after the Story for All Ages. (They will have lots of fun!)

what we believe
We don't have a creed to follow, meaning we don't require that members have a particular set of beliefs.
Instead, we have a covenant with each other, which means we are guided by an agreement on how we will treat each other. (UU's have Seven Principles that we follow.) In other words, we welcome diverse beliefs (Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Pagan, atheist, etc.), and we expect everyone to treat other other according to our covenant.
We are a UU faith community dedicated to respecting our spiritual journeys and appreciating the unique gifts we all bring to the common life we share. We support each other and our congregation by listening objectively, sharing our feelings honestly, speaking the truth while holding each other in love, and encouraging each other to become our best selves.
